Anvita Upponi

Head of Child and Adolescent Department & Senior Associate Psychotherapist

Anvita has graduated with a Master’s degree in Social Work from Columbia University, New York  (2015). She also has a Diploma in Narrative Therapy from Narrative Practices India. 

At Unalome, Anvita works with adults and adolescents, using an affect-based, process-oriented approach. Anvita has been working with developmental and complex trauma extensively since 2020, under training and supervision. She believes in trauma-informed, evidence-based practices to allow clients to better understand, process and cope with emotions that might be tied with their traumatic experiences. 

Anvita uses an integrative approach that includes narrative techniques, interpersonal process and trauma-informed therapy to support clients with social and emotional issues like anxiety, depression, self-harm, body image, family and relationship issues and daily life challenges. Anvita also believes that the client is the expert and uses a collaborative approach with her clients to support them to overcome their challenges. 

In the last 4 years, Anvita has learned the unique balance between compassion and accountability. She is proficient at holding her clients accountable with compassion and care and uses this to bring change in her clients life by showing them their role in their own narrative.
