Sailee Khare

Sailee has a Ph.D in Clinical Psychology (2009-2015) from the RWTH Aachen University, Germany. She was a part of the Neuropsychology Section as well as the Psychiatry, Psychotherapy and Psychosomatic Department, University Hospital RWTH Aachen wherein she worked with neuro-psychiatric populations. She was a doctoral student in the International Research Training Group (IRTG- 1328) – Schizophrenia and Autism, a structured program between RWTH Aachen University, Germany and University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA. As part of this program, she was a visiting scholar at the Neurology Department at the University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, USA. Here, her research was focused on conducting numerical assessments in individuals with parietal lobe lesions. During these years, she has attended several international conferences and workshops and presented her research work. Prior to this, she has a Masters degree in Foundations in Clinical Psychology at the Bangor University, UK and Bachelors degree in Psychology from Pune University, India.

After returning back to India in 2016, she worked as a clinical interviewer on a survey conducted to understand the nature of employment as well as the facilitators and barriers of employment in individuals with severe mental illnesses. In 2017, she started working on her post-doctoral project at the KEM Hospital and Research Centre, Pune. For her research project, she received a fellowship under the Cognitive Science Research Initiative (CSRI) given by the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. In this clinical research, she was focusing on tracing behavioral indicators of cognitive impairments (namely attention, working memory etc.) in patients diagnosed with schizophrenia and their immediate relatives using paper-pencil and computerized neuropsychological assessments. She is furthermore interested in using assessment scores to design interventions for enhancing cognitive functioning in patients as well as their relatives.

Sailee has more than 10 years of clinical and research experience in India and aboard. She believes in interdisciplinary approach to address a client’s set of problems and uses evidence-based therapeutic models to help individuals with common and severe mental illnesses. She is creatively engaged in designing and executing cognitive as well as behavioral interventions with her clients. She majorly uses cognitive-behavior therapy in her practice, but is very flexible to incorporate constructs from other established psychotherapies. Moreover, she often engages in psycho-education sessions with family members of individuals diagnosed with mental illnesses and conducts sessions to educate and aid care-
givers to deal with their own stressors and burden.

When not at work, Sailee loves to travel with her friends and family, paint with vibrant colors, cook diverse cuisines and host parties at her house! She is enthusiastic about decorating her house with unique collections from her travels and enjoys kitchen gardening. She also loves to watch movies and web-series, which she deems is a free source to understand and learn different personalities and behaviors.
